September 26, 2025 | Men's Golf
NORMAN — No. 7 Oklahoma men's golf resumes its season next week at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab, hosted at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Sooners, who won the team title at Colonial last season, will open play Monday with 36 holes starting at 8 a.m. CT. The final round is set for Tuesday at the historic course, as the team champion and individual title will be up for grabs. The individual champion of the event will receive an invitation to play in 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour.
The 15-team field is loaded with elite programs, featuring 13 teams ranked in the top 25 of the Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll. Participating teams include No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Arizona State, No. 5 Texas, No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 8 Virginia, No. 11 Alabama, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 18 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Texas Tech, No. 20 Pepperdine, No. 21 Georgia, Stanford and host TCU.
Oklahoma enters the week following a tie for fifth at the Honors Course Invitational and a third-place finish at the Carmel Cup to open the year.
Head coach Ryan Hybl, who seeks his 50th win all-time, will roll out the same lineup used at the Honors Course, though in a new order. PJ Maybank III moves into the top spot, followed by Ryder Cowan and Matthew Troutman, who each finished inside the top 15 in the Sooners' last outing. Clark Van Gaalen and Jase Summy round out the Oklahoma five.
Colonial Country Club, which opened in 1936, has hosted the PGA Tour's Colonial National Invitation (now Charles Schwab Challenge) since 1946, making it the longest-running non-major event on TOUR. Designed by John Bredemus and Oklahoma native Perry Maxwell, the course has also welcomed the U.S. Open in 1941, the Players Championship in 1975 and the U.S. Women's Open in 1991.
The Sooners have a strong history at Colonial, claiming wins in 2023 and 2021, along with a runner-up finish in 2020.
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on Clippd.
