Four Sooners Earn PING All-Region Honors

May 24, 2025 | Men's Golf

NORMAN – Four Oklahoma golfers were named to the PING All-Region team on Saturday, marking their first step toward earning PING All-America honors.

Ryder Cowan, Drew Goodman, Jase Summy and Clark Van Gaalen each earned spots on the All-Central Region team, bringing OU's total to 29 All-Region honorees over the last seven seasons, the most in the region. The Sooners' four selections in 2025 tied Texas and Oklahoma State for the most in the region this year and matched the second-highest total in program history, trailing only the five honorees in 2024 and 2021.

Cowan picked up his second consecutive All-Region nod as the sophomore continues to build on a standout freshman campaign. The Edmond, Oklahoma, native is making his second NCAA Championships appearance after recording four straight top-10 finishes, including a runner-up showing at the Aggie Invitational. He has posted six top-10s this season and owns a scoring average against par of -0.33.

Goodman, a senior in his fourth and final season at OU, earned his fourth career All-Region honor. An All-SEC second-team selection, he has played 36 rounds this season and enters the NCAA Championships with a career scoring average against par of -0.31, the second-best mark in program history. His 93 par-or-better rounds are the most ever by a Sooner. The two-time All-American will look to add a third All-America honor in June.

Summy, an All-SEC first-team pick, earned his second career All-Region selection after one of the strongest seasons in OU history. The Keller, Texas, product won the 2025 Maridoe Collegiate and notched seven top-10 finishes, including five in the spring and a T10 at the NCAA Amherst Regional. His -0.90 score against par entering the NCAA Championships ranks seventh in program history for a single season.

Van Gaalen has made an immediate impact as a freshman, recording a -0.15 score against par, the fourth-best mark by a freshman in program history. He tallied three top-10 finishes in 27 rounds leading into the championships, including runner-up efforts at the NCAA Amherst Regional and Ka'anapali Classic.

Oklahoma held the 18-hole lead at the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1987 and continues play Saturday in the second round.

The full PING All-America teams will be announced in early June.
