McEnroe-Marinas Named to NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 25 List

NORMAN — Oklahoma Softball redshirt-freshman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Freshman of the Year Top 25 list as announced by the national organization Friday, April 25.
McEnroe-Marinas is hitting .350 with 49 runs, 49 hits, 12 doubles, 13 home runs and 43 RBIs through 44 starts this season. She has impressed in Southeastern Conference play, launching 10 of her 13 home runs against SEC foes, good for the league lead. She's also tallied 23 RBIs in SEC play, tied for the top mark in the conference.
The third baseman has had a multi-home run series in four of OU's six SEC weekends, while also hitting two in the same game against both Mississippi State and South Carolina. McEnroe-Marinas has homered seven times against ranked teams, helping the Sooners to a 14-4 mark in games against ranked opponents.
The SEC paced the list with eight honorees to make the top 25 board. On May 8, the list will be narrowed down to a top 10, while three finalists will be announced May 22. The winner will be announced May 27 ahead of the Women's College World Series.
