NORMANĀ ā The No. 15 Oklahoma wrestling team (4-1, 0-0 Big 12) returns to Norman on Sunday, Dec. 21, hosting Tarleton State (1-1, 0-0 SWAC), SIUE (3-0, 0-0 OVC) and Duke (5-3, 0-0 ACC) in a quad-dual at McCasland Field House. OU will open the day with a 10:00 a.m. CT dual vs. Tarleton State, followed by a matchup with SIUE at noon, and conclude action against Duke at 2 p.m. Sunday's matches will stream on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Oklahoma enters the weekend riding momentum from a pair of road victories in New Jersey, knocking off No. 12 Rutgers and Rider in back-to-back duals. The Sooners rallied from a 14-6 deficit to stun the Scarlet Knights, 19-14, marking the program's highest-ranked dual win since 2015, before erasing a 15-0 hole at Rider with six straight wins to secure a 26-15 comeback victory. The sweep featured multiple bonus-point performances and showcased Oklahoma's upperweightl strength, as the Sooners went a combined 8-0 in the final four weights across the weekend.
The Sooners put forth a strong showing at the 44th Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 5ā6, where redshirt sophomore
Carter Schubert captured the 174-pound title and three additional Sooners earned podium finishes. Schubert became OU's first CKLV champion since 2013. As a team, Oklahoma totaled 80.5 points to finish sixth, marking the program's highest placement at the event since 2015. Schubert was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for his performance, becoming OU's second weekly honoree of the season alongside
DJ Parker (Nov. 26). Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are the only Big 12 programs with multiple weekly award winners this season.
FAMILIAR FACE ON THE OPPOSING BENCH
SIUE head coach Jeremy Spates returns to McCasland Field House on Sunday after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at Oklahoma under his father, Jack Spates, from 2004ā09. The second winningest coach in program history, Jack Spates arrived at OU in 1993 and guided the Sooners back to national prominence, compiling a 243-97-12 dual record. During his 18-year tenure, which concluded in 2011, he captured two Big 12 titles and coached 56 All-Americans, including six national champions.

Tarleton State
Sunday's meeting between Oklahoma and Tarleton State will mark the first all-time matchup between the two programs. Debuting as a club team in 2024, the Texans compete in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) within the Southwest Conference.
SIUE
Oklahoma holds a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series against SIUE, with the most recent meeting coming in 1984, when the Sooners earned a 26-12 victory in Edwardsville.Ā Ā

The Sooners and Blue Devils will also face off for the first time in program history.
SOONERS IN THE RANKINGS
Oklahoma enters Sunday ranked No. 15 nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). The Sooners jumped five spots in the rankings following road wins at No. 12 Rutgers and Rider. Oklahoma was the second-highest riser in the country this week, trailing only North Carolina, which climbed six spots.

RUNNING THE GAUNTLET
Oklahoma has positioned itself to face one of the nation's toughest schedules in 2025-26. Beyond its season opening road contest at No. 1 and four-time defending national champion Penn State, the Sooners have eight duals scheduled against teams currently ranked in the NWCA Coaches' Top 25 ā five of which will take place on the road. In total, OU will face three top-five opponents, four ranked inside the top 15 and eight in the top 25. The Sooners also competed at the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational, widely regarded as the premier regular season tournament in college wrestling.
