• OU head coach Porter Moser makes his return to Chicago on Friday. The Naperville, Ill., native served as head coach at Loyola Chicago for 10 seasons (2011-12 through 2020-21) and directed the Ramblers to the 2018 Final Four. He was a standout high school basketball player at Benet Academy in nearby Lisle, Ill.

• In his fifth season at Oklahoma, Moser is 49-9 (.842) in regular season non-conference play.

• OU has won 19 of its last 21 regular season non-conference games (it went 13-0 last season) and 32 of its last 35.

• Oklahoma (34) and Marquette (37) have combined for 71 NCAA Tournament appearances, 86 NCAA Tourney wins (42 by OU and 44 by MU) and eight Final Four appearances (five by OU [most recently in 2016] and three by MU [most recently in 2003]). Marquette, located in Milwaukee, Wis., won the 1977 NCAA title under head coach Al McGuire.

• In 1999, No. 13 seed Oklahoma won fist- and second-round NCAA Tournament games at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, which served as Marquette's home arena. The Sooners knocked off No. 4 seed Arizona 61-60 on a late tip-in by current OU assistant coach Ryan Humphrey before downing No. 5 seed UNC Charlotte 85-72. And on Oct. 24 this fall, the Sooners beat Wisconsin 84-83 in an exhibition game at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Marquette's current home arena.

• Marquette was picked to finish fifth in the Big East preseason coaches poll. It lost its top three scorers from 2024-25, but returned preseason All-Big East honorees Chase Ross and Ben Gold.

• Golden Eagles head coach Shaka Smart is in his fifth season with the Golden Eagles. He directed MU to its 17th Sweet 16 appearance in 2023-24.
