Ella Pappas recorded the seventh hat trick in the history of the University of Oklahoma soccer program as the Sooners capped Senior Weekend by blasting Missouri State 8-0 on Sunday afternoon in Norman.
Pappas scored her three goals at the 10th, 46th and 51st minutes to become the sixth-ever Sooner to record a hat trick. She pushed her season goal total to four while recording her sixth, seventh and eighth career strikes.
Oklahoma (5-1) placed 21 of its 29 shots on frame (72.4%) while limiting Missouri State (2-3-2) to just four shots on the afternoon. Its eight goals tied the program's single-match record and marked the sixth occasion in school history that the attack has reached the record.
The Bears, picked to win the Missouri Valley Conference in the league's preseason poll, struggled to mark the Sooner attack as OU pushed the pace late with 19 shots in the second half. OU supported its attack extremely well, recording six assists including a program record-tying three by
Leonie Weber.
Weber assisted on each of Pappas' goals, becoming just the second Sooner to generate three assists and tying Marissa McMahand's program record set Aug. 24, 2018 vs. Illinois State. Pappas added an assist to go with her hat trick, tying
Emma Hawkins' single-match record of seven points set last season vs. Tulsa (8/17/23).
Freshman midfielder
Juliette Rayo scored her first collegiate goal at the 63rd minute and added another at the 88th to record a brace.
Sophia Green extended her goal-scoring streak to three with the game's first goal in the second minute,
Hadley Murrell scored her first of the fall at the 54th minute and
Morganne Eikelbarner struck for her third at the 83rd.
Goalkeeper
Caroline Duffy enjoyed a mostly-quiet day directing her third as the Oklahoma attack dominated possession and challenged Missouri State in the middle third, recording three saves for her second clean sheet of the season. Duffy improved to 5-1-0 on the season and dropped her goals-against average to an incredible 0.52 with just three goals allowed in nearly 521 minutes in net.
Alexis Washington assisted on Green's goal in the first half, moving her just two assists away from tying Lauren MacIver's program record of 18 career assists.
Abigail McNulty provided her first point as a Sooner with a brilliant assist on Eikelbarner's goal.
Oklahoma has scored 15 goals in its last two games, outscoring Stetson and Missouri State 15-0. Pappas enjoyed a nine-point week with four goals and one assist. OU has out-shot its opponents 59-10 over its last two matches with a 54.2% on-frame rate.
