Sooners Open Season at Inverness on Monday

NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's golf team is set to open its 16th season under head coach Ryan Hybl this week at the Inverness Intercollegiate. The Sooners tee off at the 54-hole event on Monday morning in Toledo, Ohio, at the historic Inverness Club in a traditional five-count-four formatted tournament.
At the premier college golf event of the opening week, No. 3 Oklahoma will play in a 14-team field that additionally features No. 1 Auburn, No. 4 Texas Tech, No. 5 Virginia and No. 6 Vanderbilt. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by a final round on Tuesday.
The Sooners' season-opening lineup includes preseason All-Americans Drew Goodman and Jase Summy, as well as 2024 freshman All-American Ryder Cowan. Junior Matthew Troutman will make his first lineup appearance since his freshman year, and true freshman Clark Van Gaalen will debut at Inverness. Senior Jaxon Dowell will play as an unattached individual.
In their last appearance at the tournament, the Sooners finished third after firing an 863 (+11) over 54 holes.

Monday's rounds will have featured hole coverage on Nos. 12 and 18 on YouTube, and Tuesday's final round will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

THE COURSE
Founded in 1903, the Inverness Club has a storied history, including hosting the 2009 NCAA Men's Golf Championships alongside the University of Toledo. The club is set to host the 2027 U.S. Women's Open, the 2029 U.S. Amateur, and has been the proud venue for major tournaments including four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships, one U.S. Amateur, one U.S. Junior Amateur and the 2021 Solheim Cup.
