Soccer Hosts Missouri State Sunday

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer teamĀ continues its homestand with a Sunday match against Missouri State at John Crain Field. First touch vs. the Bears is set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.


OU returned from its bye with a 7-0 drubbing of Stetson on Thursday. Six Sooners scored a goal while four provided an assist, led by Alexis Washington's first collegiate brace and a two-assist effort from Hadley Murrell.

The Sooners own a 4-1-0 advantage in the all-time series over Missouri State, winning the last meeting 3-1 on Sept. 4, 2011 in Norman.

• Leo Leads the Way:Ā Leonie WeberĀ leads Oklahoma with three goals and two assists and has moved into a tie for seventh in program history with 43 career points.

• Defensive Dominance:Ā Oklahoma's defense has impressed in non-conference play, limiting opponents to just three goals on 5.60 shots per match. Caroline Duffy owns a 85.7% save rate while the group of Meredith King, Cassie Clifton, Cailey England and Andie Wolfe have logged 92.8% of the available backline minutes.

• Historic Helper:Ā Alexis WashingtonĀ is is three assists away from moving into a tie for Oklahoma's program record of 18 held by Lauren MacIver.

• 2024 Outlook:Ā The Sooners were selected 13th in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, sharing the rank with Florida.Ā Five athletes were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist as forwardsĀ Hadley Murrell,Ā Alexis WashingtonĀ andĀ Leonie Weber, midfielderĀ Cailey EnglandĀ and defenderĀ Andie WolfeĀ earned league recognition.

• OU x SEC:Ā OU Soccer embarks on its inaugural season in the SEC this fall and will enjoy the honor of playing Oklahoma's first regular season event as a league member (Aug. 15 at North Texas) as well as the university's first SEC league game (Sept. 19 vs. Mississippi State).
