September 05, 2024 | Men's Golf

NORMAN — Oklahoma head men's golf coach Ryan Hybl has unveiled the Sooners' 2024-25 schedule, which features 11 regular season events – five in the fall and six in the spring.

Once again, the Sooners, ranked 12th in preseason Golfweek Coaches poll, are set to face one of the nation's toughest slates, with a projected strength of schedule ranking in the top 15 for the sixth consecutive year.

OU tees off its season at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio, Sept. 9-10, against a stacked 14-team field including No. 1 Auburn, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 6 Virginia, and No. 15 Texas Tech. Portions of the final round will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Oklahoma will compete at TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Collegiate, scheduled for Sept. 21-23, where the individual champion will earn an exemption into the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open.

The Sooners will then stay in the Lone Star State for the Ben Hogan Collegiate at Colonial Country Club, Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Hybl's squad has a strong track record at this event, capturing the title in 2020 and securing a runner-up finish in 2021.

Major college golf returns to the Sooner State, Oct. 21-23, for the Stephens Cup at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. This prestigious event includes a 54-hole stroke play tournament followed by an 18-hole match play finale. The exclusive field features the Sooners alongside No. 3 Florida State, No. 17 Arkansas, No. 20 Oklahoma State, San Diego State, and SMU. Tickets are available now.

The fall season concludes at the Ka'anapali Classic in Hawai'i, Nov. 2-4, where the Sooners have dominated, setting multiple school records and winning the event four times, including victories in 2022 and 2023.

Oklahoma opens the spring schedule at the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 10-12, where the individual winner earns an exemption into the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open. The Sooners then travel to Las Vegas for the Southern Highlands Collegiate, March 2-4, for one of college golf's most competitive events. Oklahoma won the tournament in 2024, taking down three top-five teams on the final day.

Additional spring stops include the Pauma Valley Invitational in San Diego (March 17-18), the Valspar Collegiate at Floridian National Golf Club (March 24-25), and the Maridoe Collegiate in Carrollton, Texas, (March 31-April 1), where the Sooners last triumphed in 2021 in a nationally-television final round on Golf Channel.

The regular season wraps up at the Aggie Invitational, April 12-13, at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.

The Sooners open postseason play at the SEC Championship, April 23-27, at Seaside Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. The five-day championship is contested over three rounds of stroke play and three matches to determine the conference's champion.

Oklahoma will aim to extend its school-record streak of NCAA Regional appearances to 14, competing at one of six sites from May 12-14. The season culminates at the 2025 NCAA Championships, May 23-28, at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Led by preseason All-Americans Drew Goodman and Jase Summy, the Sooners boast an experienced lineup with seven returning players who have logged over 200 combined rounds in their careers. Hybl, entering his 16th season at Oklahoma, has guided the Sooners to unprecedented success, including a 2017 NCAA Championship, three conference titles and 13 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances.
