Soccer Welcomes Stetson to Norman

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer team resumes non-conference play Thursday by hosting Stetson at John Crain Field. First touch vs. the Hatters is set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.

OU was idle last week following a 4-1 win over Oral Roberts on Aug. 25. Leonie Weber scored a goal and added two assists while the Sooner attack placed 16 of their 22 shots on frame. Alexis Washington scored her first collegiate goal, Andie Wolfe struck for her second and Sophia Green registered the 25th marker of her career.

The win over ORU marked head coach Matt Mott's 150th NCAA victory.

This week marks OU's Senior Weekend, honoring its 11 graduating student-athletes with a recognition ceremony prior to both Thursday and Sunday's matches. Tickets are available for purchase here. Thursday's match will be broadcast on SEC Network+.


SEASON STORYLINES


• All About Oklahoma: The Sooners are off to a 3-1-0 start to the 2024 season and own the eighth-best winning percentage in the SEC at .750.

• Leo Leads the Way: Leonie Weber leads Oklahoma with three goals and two assists and has moved into a tie for seventh in program history with 43 career points.

• Defensive Dominance: Oklahoma's defense has impressed in non-conference play, limiting opponents to just three goals on 5.50 shots per match. Caroline Duffy owns a 82.4% save rate while the group of Meredith King, Cassie Clifton, Cailey England and Andie Wolfe have logged 96.1% of the available backline minutes.

• Historic Helper: Alexis Washington is is three assists away from moving into a tie for Oklahoma's program record of 18 held by Lauren MacIver.

 2024 Outlook: The Sooners were selected 13th in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, sharing the rank with Florida. Five athletes were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist as forwards Hadley MurrellAlexis Washington and Leonie Weber, midfielder Cailey England and defender Andie Wolfe earned league recognition.

• OU x SEC: OU Soccer embarks on its inaugural season in the SEC this fall and will enjoy the honor of playing Oklahoma's first regular season event as a league member (Aug. 15 at North Texas) as well as the university's first SEC league game (Sept. 19 vs. Mississippi State).
