NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer team returns home for a Southeastern Conference (SEC) match vs. Kentucky Sunday at John Crain Field. First touch is set for 1 p.m. on SEC Network+.
OU went 1-1-0 on its two-match road swing last week, downing Texas A&M 2-1 on Sunday before dropping a 3-1 result to LSU Thursday.
The Sooners are receiving votes for the third straight week in the U.S. Soccer Coaches poll, marking the first time OU has done so since weeks 1-3 of the 2019 season.
OU hosts its Hispanic Heritage game Sunday featuring Lotería, a Vamos Sooners shirt giveaway for the first 200 fans and Yúmare Folkorico dancers. Tickets are available for purchase here. The match will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
• All About Oklahoma: The Sooners are off to an 8-3-0 start to the 2024 season and are tied for 10th in the SEC standings with three conference points.
• Home Sweet Home: OU is 5-1-0 at home this fall, outscoring opponents 24-5 across six tilts at JCF.
• Leo Leads the Way: Leonie Weber is seventh in program history with 49 career points and leads OU with six assists and 14 points this fall.
• Defensive Dominance: Oklahoma's defense impressed in non-conference play, limiting opponents to just five goals on 5.00 shots per match. Caroline Duffy owns a 79.2% save rate while the group of Meredith King, Cassie Clifton, Cailey England and Andie Wolfe have logged 93.8% of the available backline minutes.
• Historic Helpers: Alexis Washington and Leonie Weber are both one assist away from tying Oklahoma's career record of 18 held by Lauren MacIver.
• Oh Captain, Our Captain: Cailey England has moved into third all-time in career starts at OU (83) and needs one to match Rachel Ressler and Madeline Brem's program record of 84. She also ranks third in career minutes played (7,145), just 305 shy of Brem's OU-record 7,450.
• 2024 Outlook: The Sooners were selected 13th in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, sharing the rank with Florida. Five athletes were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist as forwards Hadley Murrell, Alexis Washington and Leonie Weber, midfielder Cailey England and defender Andie Wolfe earned league recognition.
• OU x SEC: OU Soccer embarks on its inaugural season in the SEC this fall. The Sooners have previously faced 11 of their 15 new conference opponents. OU head coach Matt Mott owns 20 seasons of SEC experience from stints at Ole Miss and Auburn.
