Goodman Second, Sooners Fourth After 36 Holes at Inverness

TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior golfer Drew Goodman sits in a tie for second as No. 3 Oklahoma closed day one of the season-opening Inverness Intercollegiate in fourth place as a team.
The Sooners (4, +4) played the 54-hole tournament's first round 5-over par but responded in the afternoon at the historic Inverness Club with a 1-under 275 to rise up the leaderboard. Oklahoma trails No. 1 Auburn, who leads by eight strokes, entering Tuesday's final round.
Goodman (T2, -3) opened his day with a 66 (-3) at the par-69 course and rose into solo second at the midway point of the second round, but finished his day with a second-round 69 (E) and trails reigning national player of the year Jackson Koivun of Auburn, who leads the field at 10-under.
On Monday, Matthew Troutman (T14, +1) saw his first action in the Crimson and Cream lineup in over a year, firing a 72 (+3) to open the tournament. The Louisville, Ky., product bounced back with a 67 (-2) to get to 1-over for the day and a tie for 14th.
Trailing Troutman by a stroke, sophomore Ryder Cowan (T17, +2) carded rounds of 71-69 and sits in a tie for 17th. The freshman All-American posted a team-high four birdies in the second round.
True freshman Clark Van Gaalen (T28, +4) made his collegiate debut at Inverness, carding 72-70 to share 28th heading into the final round.
Jase Summy is tied for 44th at 6-over, while Jaxon Dowell is T64 playing unattached.
Play was halted due to darkness, with a handful of teams still on the course. Those teams will conclude their second rounds on Tuesday morning before round three begins.
The Sooners will tee off at 7:30 a.m. CT in a shotgun start on Tuesday. The final round will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live scoring will be available on Golfstat.
