STILLWATER, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 17 Oklahoma State on Thursday evening in Stillwater, dropping its first match of the season.
Oklahoma (2-1-0) dominated possession, leading 17-4 on shots and 9-4 on corner kicks, and limited the Cowgirls (3-0) to just three shots on target but couldn't convert on its chances inside the box. The Sooners generated more than 20 set pieces by drawing 15 OSU fouls alongside their nine corners.
OU goalkeeper
Caroline Duffy made two key saves including a jaw-dropping stop on a brilliant chance just outside the goal area late in the second half. The Cowgirls struck for the lone goal of the match in the 38th minute on a counterattack.
Oklahoma forwards
Leonie Weber and
Abigail McNulty all outfielders with three shots while
Hadley Murrell and
Michelle Pak each provided two. Only three of OU's 17 shots made it on frame as the attack fought to generate quality chances.
