Soccer Hosts FIU Sunday

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer team celebrates its home opener on Sunday by hosting FIU at John Crain Field in Norman. First touch vs. the Panthers is set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.

OU opened its 2024 campaign Thursday with a 1-0 road result over North Texas. Junior forward Morganne Eikelbarner scored the lone goal while junior keeper Caroline Duffy made four saves and directed a terrific defensive effort.

Tickets are available for purchase here. Gates will open 60 minutes prior to first touch with schedule posters available for fans. Sunday's match will be broadcast on SEC Network+.

 

SEASON STORYLINES


 2024 Outlook: The Sooners were selected 13th in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, sharing the rank with Florida. Five athletes were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist as forwards Hadley Murrell, Alexis Washington and Leonie Weber, midfielder Cailey England and defender Andie Wolfe earned league recognition.

All About Oklahoma: OU produced an 8-10-2 mark in year one of the Matt Mott era, earning 11 points in conference play (3-5-2) to finish tied for ninth in the Big 12 table. Oklahoma returns 14 letterwinners from last season including seven starting outfielders. The Sooners added seven freshmen and eight transfers during the offseason including United Soccer Coaches all-region honorees Sophia Green (Omaha), Abigail McNulty (Boston University) and Morgan O'Connor (Ole Miss - UCF).

Historic Helper: Alexis Washington is one assist away from moving into a tie for second all-time at Oklahoma with 15. The school record is 18 (Lauren MacIver).

OU x SEC: OU Soccer embarks on its inaugural season in the SEC this fall and will enjoy the honor of playing Oklahoma's first regular season event as a league member (Aug. 15 at North Texas) as well as the university's first SEC league game (Sept. 19 vs. Mississippi State).

The Sooners continue their non-conference slate with Bedlam Thursday, Aug. 22, in Stillwater at 7 p.m. Thursday's match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
