Sooners Play in Augusta Haskins Invitational Over Weekend

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Oklahoma Golf heads to Georgia this weekend for the 45th playing of the Valspar Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, which tees off in Augusta at Forest Hills Golf Club this weekend. The 54-hole, two-day tournament opens on Saturday with 36 holes, followed by a final round on Sunday to determine a champion.

Top-ranked North Carolina headlines the 14-team field that also features No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 17 East Tennessee State, No. 18 Illinois and No. 20 Texas inside the top 25. Augusta University is the host, and they are joined by Army, Marquette, Mississippi State, Mercer, Oklahoma State, South Florida, Troy and Wofford.

Oklahoma received an invite to the event after Chris Gotterup won the Haskins Award in 2022.

The tournament boasts some of the finest individual players in college golf, as evidenced by the latest PGA Tour University Rankings. Among the top 15 players are Austin Greaser (UNC) at No. 4, Dylan Menante (UNC) at No. 9, Mats Ege (ETSU) at No. 11, Ben Lorenz (OU) at No. 12, and Jonas Baumgartner (OSU) at No. 14. The event's medalist will earn a coveted PGA Tour exemption.

Following the completion of the tournament, players and coaches will attend the Monday Masters practice round.

The Sooners most recently competed at the Valspar Collegiate, finishing fifth and at even-par.

Oklahoma's lineup card features Stephen Campbell Jr., Ben Lorenz, Drew Goodman, Ryder Cowan and Luke Kluver.
