Jordan Claims Title, Seven Others Place at Roadrunner Open

November 24, 2024 | Wrestling

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Beric Jordan continued his impressive freshman campaign after winning the 125-pound title in Sunday's Roadrunner Open, hosted by Cal State Bakersfield in the Icardo Center.

In the second appearance of his collegiate career, Jordan dominated his competition en route to a first-place finish. The Stillwater, Okla., native posted a perfect 4-0 record, securing victories by fall, technical fall and decision before downing Cal Poly's Koda Holeman by an 11-2 major decision in the championship bout. Jordan, who made his Sooner debut at the Daktronics Invite on Nov. 17, improved to 8-0 on the season.

Oklahoma's impressive run at the Roadrunner Open earned the team a second-place overall finish. Along with Jordan, the Sooners were guided by Alex Braun (141), Clay Giddens (165) and Ricky Thomas (285) who finished third; Anders Thompson, who claimed a fourth place finish in the 184 pound bracket; and Hunter Hollingsworth (149), Eli Cordy (184) and Ryan Nichols (197) who each finished fifth in their respective brackets.

The Sooners will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 6 as they host Central Michigan in a nonconference showdown at McCasland Field House. First match is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
