OPENING TIP

•  Oklahoma continues its homestand to open the 2024-25 season on Monday, Nov. 11, hosting Northwestern State inside Lloyd Noble Center. The non-conference clash starts at 7 p.m. and marks the eighth meeting between the two programs.

•  Redshirt freshman Jacolb Fredson-Cole, graduate Kobe Elvis (Dayton/DePaul), sixth year Brycen Goodine (Syracuse/Providence/Fairfield), graduate Mohamed Wague (Harcum College/West Virginia/Alabama), redshirt senior Duke Miles (Troy/High Point) senior Glenn Taylor Jr. (Oregon State/St. John's), freshman Jeremiah Fears and freshman Dayton Forsythe made their Oklahoma debuts in the season opener against Lindenwood on Nov. 4. Miles and Goodine earned their first start in the Crimson and Cream, finishing with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Fears played 26-plus minutes off the bench and finished with 16 points, six assists and five rebounds.

•  Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Porter Moser is in his fourth season leading the program. Moser guided Oklahoma to a 20-12 record and an 8-10 mark in OU's final season in the Big 12. The 2023-24 squad was the first team to reach 20 regular season wins since the 2016 Final Four team. Despite the team's success last season, it was not selected to the NCAA Tournament, becoming one of the first two teams out per the selection committee in two of the previous three seasons.

•  Junior Jalon Moore and super senior Sam Godwin return as starters from last season's 20-win team. Moore earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades, averaging 11.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.5 assists per outing in 31 starts. Godwin started 31 games in 2023-24 and shot 59.8% from the field (75-126), ranking seventh in program history for single-season field goal percentage. In the season opener, Moore led the Sooners with 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting and added seven rebounds. Godwin tallied a double-double, corraling a career-high 15 rebounds and scoring 11 points.

•  The 2024-25 season marks the 50th season of men's basketball at Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners played their first contest on Dec. 1, 1975 against Texas. OU earned its first victory in the venue on Jan. 31, 1976, beating Oklahoma State 57-42.

•  OU embarks on its inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in 2024-25 after 28 years in the Big 12, finishing with a 258-214 (.548) mark in conference competition. 

LAST TIME OUT

•  Oklahoma opened its 2024-25 slate with a 93-60 victory against Lindenwood on Monday, Nov. 4 at Lloyd Noble Center. Five Sooners recorded double-digit points, including senior Jalon Moore, who finished with a team-best 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Senior Sam Godwin tallied a double-double, recording 11 points and a team-best 15 rebounds. Godwin's 15 boards are the most by a Sooner in the Porter Moser era. 

•  Freshman Jeremiah Fears poured in 16 points, six assists and five rebounds in 26-plus minutes, making his OU debut. Sixth-year Byrcen Goodine tallied 11 points and buried three 3-pointers, and Duke Miles tallied a team-high four 3-pointers, finishing with 14 points, six assists and two steals. Graduate Mohamed Wague recorded six rebounds, including five offensive, five points, a team-high three steals and two blocks. Graduate Kobe Elvis dished out six assists, matching Fears and Miles. 

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

•  Oklahoma has a 79-29 record at Lloyd Noble Center since 2017, including a 14-4 mark in 2023-24. The Sooners have won 82.6% (612-129) of their games at LNC since the building opened in 1975. 

•  The 2024-25 campaign marks the 50th season of men's basketball at Lloyd Noble Center. The venue opened before the 1975-76 season and OU played its first game on Dec. 1, 1975 against Texas. The Sooners earned their first victory in the venue on Jan. 31, 1976, beating Oklahoma State 57-42.

RANKING SUMMARY (2024-25)

•  Oklahoma ranks in the top 10 in 10 NCAA DI categories, including fifth in 3-pointers made per game (14.0), seventh in 3-point percentage defense (16.7%) and ninth in fastbreak points (29.0). The Sooners are 14th in assists per game (23.0), 16th in 3-pointer attempts per game (34.0), 28th in effective field goal percentage (63.1%), 32nd in scoring margin (33.0), 39th in assist/turnover ratio (1.9), 40th in scoring offense (93.0) and 45th in defensive rebound per game (32.0).

•  Sam Godwin is first in NCAA DI in defensive rebounds per game (13.0), second in rebounds per game (15.0) and 19th in field goal percentage (83.3%). Mohamed Wague is 13th in offensive rebounds per game (5.0). Duke Miles is 31st in 3-pointers made per game (4.0) and 38th in 3-point percentage (66.7%)

NORTHWESTERN STATE NOTES

•  Senior Jake Moser is the only Sooners who played against Northwestern State in the last meeting between the two programs. 

•  Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Porter Moser earned his first victory at Oklahoma against NSU, beating the Demons 77-59 at Lloyd Noble Center on Nov. 9, 2021. 

NOTES FROM GAME ONE

•  Super senior Sam Godwin recorded a career-high 15 rebounds against Lindenwood, becoming the first Sooner since Brady Manek against Iowa State on Feb. 6, 2021, to record 15-plus rebounds. Manek tallied 15 boards in 32 minutes.

•  Oklahoma found its offensive rhythm from behind the arc against the Lions, burying 14 3-pointers on 34 attempts. Both marks are team highs in the Porter Moser era.

•  Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Porter Moser has accumulated 348 career NCAA Division I victories, recording 188 wins in 10 seasons at Loyola Chicago, 55 at Oklahoma, 54 at Little Rock (Ark.) and 51 at Illinois State.
