NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams continue their season at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at Agri Park this Friday.
The OU women will run a 5K at 4:30 p.m. and the men will run an 8K at 5 p.m. Oklahoma will feature nine women's runners and seven men's runners.
A total of 35 women's teams and 31 men's teams are set to compete in the Chile Pepper Festival, making it the largest competition of the season so far for the Sooners. The women's field includes five nationally or regionally ranked teams and the men's field includes nine.
The Sooners look to build on their performance at the Texas Tech Open on Sept. 15 in Lubbock, Texas. The men's and women's squads both recorded third-place finishes.

Gabi Barrera and sophomore
Erin O'Brien grabbed top-10 finishes for the women's team. Barrera secured fourth place with a time of 22:54.2 and O'Brien registered ninth, clocking in with a time of 23:22.8. Junior
Colin Caso earned the men's top finish, recording ninth place and stamping a time of 25:26.7.
