XC Announces 2026 Schedule

NORMAN — Oklahoma head track and field and cross country coach James Thomas announced the 2026 cross country schedule Tuesday morning. The men are set to compete in three regular season races, while the women will take part in four.
"We're extremely excited about the schedule we've put together for both our men's and women's programs," said head cross country coach Jay Weaver. "It gives us the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the region and across the nation, while preparing us for where we ultimately want to be at the end of the season. There's a tremendous amount of belief and excitement within both teams about what we can accomplish this year at the conference, regional and national stages."
Both squads will begin the season at the Cowboy Preview in Stillwater, Okla., on Saturday, Sept. 5 before heading back up the highway on Sept. 26 for the Cowboy Jamboree.
The teams will split for the remainder of the regular season, as the men will head to Madison, Wis., on Oct. 9 for the prestigious Nuttycombe Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin.
Oklahoma's women's team will have select athletes compete in the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 16. The athletes not competing in the UAPNI will head back to Stillwater for the regular season finale at the Weis-Crockett Invitational the following day, Oct. 17.
The 2026 SEC Cross Country Championships hosted by Missouri in Columbia, Mo., take place on Friday, Oct. 30. Last year, the Oklahoma men took third and three athletes earned All-SEC honors. Following that meet, the Sooners travel to Ames, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, Nov. 13. Qualifying teams and individuals will compete at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
