Blackmon, Langley Earn USTFCCCA Regional Honors

NORMAN - Senior Kennedy Blackmon and Assistant Coach Jerel Langley picked up 2023 USTFCCCA DI Midwest Region honors, the association announced Thursday.
Blackmon was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Year after a stellar senior season. She recorded eight points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after becoming the national runner-up in the 100-meter dash and ninth in the 200-meter dash. From Plano, Texas, Blackmon became the No. 13 performer in the 100m under any condition in NCAA history. Before earning her spot in Austin, she set school records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100.
At the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, she placed fourth in both the 100m and 200m, as well as anchoring the third-place 4x100 relay squad. Blackmon scored 11.5 points at the conference finale to help the Sooners to their highest team finish and point total in school history. Throughout the season, she won the John Jacobs and Corky/Crofoot 100m and Arkansas Twilight 200m.
Langley was tabbed the Women's Assistant Coach of the Year after helping his athletes to impeccable season finishes. In his seventh year at OU, he coached Pippi Lotta Enok to become the NCAA Outdoor Heptathlon National Champion. Enok set two new school records (heptathlon and long jump) as well as becoming No. 15 all-time in the NCAA Heptathlon record book. Langley also coached a second-team All-American in Olivia Lueking. Lueking broke the school record in pole vault with the No. 2 performance in NCAA and No. 24 all-time.
While hosting the conference championships, Langley's athletes scored 38 of OU's 127 points with a Big 12 Champion and four podium finishes. Enok also ranked No. 8 in NCAA long jump and Cassidy Bradshaw was No. 17 in pole vault.
