The Oklahoma Sooners finish their 2022-23 campaign with eight qualifiers traveling to the NCAA ChampionshipsĀ March 16-18.
ĀThe three-day event will take place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, with six sessions spanning over Thursday-Sunday. The tournament willĀ rotate between ESPN and ESPNU, with the first sessionĀ starting on ESPNU at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday.
ĀFor the first time in history, the NCAA Wrestling Championships will be hosted in Tulsa. The state of Oklahoma last hosted the championship tournament in Oklahoma City in 2014, where the Sooners finished in 10thĀ place as a team.Ā
Oklahoma's eight qualifiers ties for the 10th most qualifiers in the country. Last season, OU sent nine to the NCAA Championships, with two grapplers making it to the blood rounds.
ĀThe Sooners return to Tulsa, where they finished in fourth place at the Big 12 Championship and secured eight automatic NCAA qualifications. OU compiled 97.5 team points at the conference tournament.
ĀAt the Big 12 Championship, Wyatt Henson and Mitch Moore earned third place in their respective weight classes, while seven other Sooners placed and six automatically qualified for the NCAA tournament.
ĀJoey Prata clinched his third trip to NCAAs with a fourth place finish, including a 5-3 decision win over No. 2 seed Jore Volk (Wyoming).Ā
