WACO, Texas – Oklahoma men's basketball dropped a hard-fought battle to No. 14/12 Baylor 82-72 on Wednesday night at Ferrell Center.
Grant Sherfield scored a team-high 15 points and tallied seven assists. Sherfield recorded his 500th career assist on a
Jacob Groves 3-pointer in the first half.
Milos Uzan added 11 points and three rebounds and
Joe Bamisile tallied 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting and added seven rebounds.
Otega Oweh made his first career start and scored 10 points.
Oklahoma entered the break down six after Uzan buried a 3-pointer as time expired.
Baylor put the first points on the board in the second frame and Uzan responded with a three. Baylor's Keyonte George battled in the paint for a tough two and extended the BU lead back to seven. The Sooners put together a 10-2 run over the next three minutes.
Tanner Groves opened the scoring spurt with a rim-rocking dunk and Bamisile added to the Sooners totals with an acrobatic layup. George briefly stopped the scoring run with a jumper and Hill responded with a jumper of his own. Groves and Bamisile recorded the final two baskets in the spurt and gave the Sooners their first lead since the opening minutes.
With Oklahoma up 49-48, Baylor scored six unanswered points. Sherfield halted the scoring run with a 3-pointer to bring the score to 53-51. BU's Langston Love answered with a jumper and Uzan cut the lead back to one after he buried one of his three 3-pointers.
Baylor responded with back-to-back threes and did not let its lead dip below five for the final eight minutes.
