Men's Hoops Set for Saturday Clash at No. 6/5 Texas

NORMAN – Oklahoma travels to Austin, Texas, for a Saturday matchup against No. 6/5 Texas. Tip is at 1 p.m. inside Moody Center.

Saturday's game against the Longhorns will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Rich Hollenberg and Chris Spatola on the call. Fans may also listen on the Sooner Sports Radio Network  (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing.

In Oklahoma's last outing, the Sooners earned a 79-65 victory over No. 12/14 Kansas State on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Grant Sherfield recorded team highs in points (22), rebounds (8) and assists (6). Tanner Groves tallied 16 points, Milos Uzan added 13 and Jalen Hill pitched in 12. OU entered the break even with KSU and used a 12-0 run in the second half to control the final 20 minutes.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS

Interim Texas head men's basketball coach Rodney Terry has guided the Longhorns to a 13-5 mark and 9-4 Big 12 record in his 18 games at the helm. UT is 20-6 on the year and dropped its last contest to Texas Tech 74-67 on Monday, Feb. 13. Terry previously served as the head coach at Fresno State and UTEP and has an overall record of 176-161.

Marcus Carr boasts team highs in points (17.2), assists (4.0) and steals (1.7) per outing. Sir'Jabari Rice adds 11.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game off the bench. Timmy Allen rounds out the trio of double-digit scorers and averages 10.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per outing. Carr, Allen, Tyrese Hunter and Dillon Mitchell have started all 26 games for the Longhorns. Dylan Disu has started the 25 games he has appeared in.

Texas is ranked in the top 50 in 10 NCAA DI categories. UT is 13th in bench points per game (29.0), 15th in turnover margin (4.2), 22nd in assists per game (16.1), 22nd in scoring margin (11.2), 25th in scoring offense (79.5), 29th in turnovers forced per game (15.9), 32nd in assist to turnover ratio (1.4), 37th in field goal percentage (47.6%), 39th in fast break points (12.9) and 39th in free throw percentage (75.5). The Longhorns are Big 12 leaders in scoring margin, scoring offense, field goal percentage and bench points per game.

LAST TIME OUT: vs. No. 12/14 Kansas State

A dominant second half propelled Oklahoma men's basketball to a 79-65 victory over No. 12/14 Kansas State on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The OU victory snapped a seven-game conference losing streak.

Grant Sherfield led the Sooners in points (22), rebounds (8) and assists (6). Tanner Groves added 16 points, six rebounds and two steals. Jalen Hill tallied 12 points and seven rebounds and fellow starter Milos Uzan added 13 points and two assists. Sherfield, Groves, Hill and Uzan combined for 10 of OU's 11 3-pointers.

OU entered the break even with the visiting Wildcats after Sherfield buried a triple with under 10 seconds left in the half. The Sooners put together a 12-0 run early in the second frame and maintained its advantage for the remainder of the contest.

FIT CHECK  

The Sooners are 4-0 in anthracite uniforms this season. OU has earned victories over Nebraska, West Virginia, then-No. 2/2 Alabama and No. 12/14 Kansas State. Oklahoma is 3-6 in crimson uniforms and 6-7 in white.

NET/STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE

The Sooners are 66th in the NET (2/16) and Texas is 9th. Of Oklahoma's five remaining regular season contests, the Sooners have four quad one games and one quad two game. All 10 Big 12 teams are ranked in the top 70 and seven are ranked in the top 25. The conference has an average NET ranking of 26.5.

Oklahoma has the 22nd toughest remaining schedule based on future opposition winning percentage (84-40, 67.7%). Six Big 12 teams are ranked in the top 30.
