Soccer Hosts No. 8 BYU Monday for Senior Night

October 15, 2023 | Soccer

NORMAN — Oklahoma will celebrate its seniors on Monday night when it hosts No. 8 BYU at John Crain Field in Norman at 7 p.m. Fresh off a thrilling, 2-0 upset over Texas in Norman last Thursday, the Sooners will look to cap off their second best all-time home slate in program history as OU enters the night with a 6-1-1 record this year at John Crain Field.

When the Sooners and Cougars open play on Monday night, OU will sit in ninth place in the Big 12 standings with 11 points. They're two points clear of 11th-place Iowa State and the top-10 teams in the league's standings following the regular season (two games remaining for OU/BYU and one for all other teams) qualify for the conference tournament in Round Rock, Texas.

Oklahoma is looking for the first top-25 win of the Matt Mott era and a victory Monday over the No. 8 Coogs would be OU's first over a top-10 opponent since 2014.

FOR THE FANS

Monday's game starts at 7 p.m. CT at John Crain Field. The contest will be available on ESPN+.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early as Senior Night festivities begin at approximately 6:50 p.m. as OU honors Emma Hawkins, Cailey England, Esalenna Galekhutle and Dani Wolfe.

She has 49 career goals entering the week.

England has spent four years in Norman and is eligible to return next season. Hawkins, whose 15 goals in two years as a Sooner is one of the best offensive stretches in program history, has played 93 games in her career. Galekhutle has made the most of her one year in Norman, scoring two goals in 12 games. Wolfe has been strong for Mott's team in her lone year as Sooner, scoring five goals and starting every match this season.
