OU Adds All-America Honors To Close Season

June 11, 2022 | Track and Field

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oklahoma women's field team closed out the 2022 outdoor season and the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., Saturday evening.

The women picked up two All-America honors from redshirt senior Lauren Jones and junior Mikeisha Welcome.

Jones picked up a fourth-place finish in the women's discus throw after marking 181-11.00 (55.45m) for the first team All-America honor. Jones finishes her time at the 2022 national championships as the only Sooner with two All-America honors. The Ohio native will end her time in an OU uniform with her name on five of OU's all-time top-10 lists.

Welcome represented the Sooners in the women's triple jump. The junior jumped 43-4.50 (13.22m) to become a second team All-American with her ninth-place finish. The accolade is her second All-America honor on the year, as she earned second team All-America honors at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships.
