Jennings Named Big 12 Player of the Week

NORMAN — Oklahoma sophomore Tiare Jennings was named Big 12 Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend at Kansas, the conference announced the honors Tuesday.

Jennings exploded for three home runs in OU's series vs. the Jayhawks, hitting a blast in each of the three games. She finished the weekend batting .636 (7-for-11) with three home runs, eight RBIs and eight runs scored. She totaled 16 bases, two walks and stole two bags on two attempts.

The All-American slugged 1.455 and held a team-best .692 on-base percentage, not striking out at the plate. In the field, she was perfect with six putouts and four assists at second base, including one double play.


Jennings and No. 1 Oklahoma concludes the regular season this week with the Bedlam Series presented by Phillips 66, May 5-7, vs. No. 6/7 Oklahoma State in Norman.

All three games will be aired on ESPN's family of networks, with Thursday night's game on ESPN at 7 p.m. CT. Friday's contest will be shown on ESPN2 at 6 p.m., prior to a 4 p.m. first pitch on ESPNU on Saturday. All three games can be heard on the radio via 107.7 The Franchise in Oklahoma and nationwide on The Varsity app.

The winner of the three-game series will be crowned the 2022 Big 12 regular season champion. Oklahoma is looking for  10th straight regular season conference title and 14th overall.
