May 23, 2022 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN – Oklahoma men's basketball head coach Porter Moser announced the signing of incoming freshman Luke Northweather Monday.

"Luke is a modern-day five that fits our system perfectly," said Moser. "He can shoot with range, pass on the permitter, has great IQ and is extremely skilled."

Northweather, a 6-10 forward from Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City, Mo., is Oklahoma's fourth addition to the 2022 signing class, joining Milos Uzan, Otega Oweh and Benny Schröder. He is a three-star prospect by 247Sports and is the No. 6 rated player in Missouri.

Northweather was named the 2021-22 Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year and averaged 29.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 blocks and 2.0 steals per contest. He led the Falcons to a 26-2 record last season and to the Missouri Class 4, District 9 Championship game.

The senior forward shot 71.6 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from deep. He concluded his high school career with a school record 2,018 points and was a two-time Tri-Country Conference Player of the Year. Northweather also tallied a Blair Oaks single-game high 51 points last season.

"He had a dominating senior year and gives us tremendous size," said Moser. "Luke is all about winning and is a sponge when it comes to learning. I see him having rapid growth as a player when he gets to Norman and am excited to add him to the team."

The four incoming freshmen are joined by returners Bijan Cortes, C.J. Noland, Jalen Hill, Tanner Groves and Jacob Groves. The Sooners announced the signing of transfer Joe Bamisile May 9.
