HIGH SCHOOL: Earned All-State honors at Shadle Park High School as a senior … Picked to play in the WIBCA All-State Game … First Team All-Greater Spokane League (GSL) selection … Averaged 18.2 points per game and 9.5 rebounds as a senior, as well as 1.9 assists, 1.8 blocked shots … The Highlanders finished 19-6 overall and 14-4 in the GSL … Greater Spokane League MVP as a junior, averaging 16.0 points, 11 rebounds, 1.5 blocked shots and 1.5 assists per game … Led Shadle Park to a 16-7 record in his junior season … Four-year letterwinner and two-time team MVP … An honor roll student, he was also ASB Vice President at Shadle Park and a member of the school’s National Honor Society … 2016-17 Shadle Park’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
PERSONAL: Parents are Randy and Tara Groves … Has two brothers, Jacob, also a member on the OU men’s basketball team, and Dylnn … Randy played basketball at Shadle Park HS and Community Colleges of Spokane … Tara (formerly Tara Flugel) still owns the Whitworth scoring record of 2,040 points and is in the school’s Hall of Fame.
