Twenty-Six Rowers Collect Academic All-Big 12 Honors

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team set a new program high by placing 26 rowers on the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team. The conference announced the list that features a total of 208 student-athletes on Tuesday afternoon.
25 of the 26 Sooners collected first team honors, which also represents a new program record. The 26 total selected just surpassed the previous high of 25, while the 25 first team honorees break the team's previous best of 24 set in 2013.
OU has now had at least 20 student-athletes named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team in 12 of the 13 seasons since the conference first named a team in 2011.
Three first team honorees, Cameron Guild, Lale Edil and Annika Smith, earned special recognition for holding cumulative 4.0 GPAs.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
