OU Rowing Heads to Lake Wheeler Invite

NORMAN – Oklahoma rowing is set to compete in the Lake Wheeler Invite in Raleigh, N.C., this weekend, with competition slated to start in the morning on Friday, April 22 and conclude Saturday, April 23.
The Sooners' will race five boats against a field of sixteen teams. Among them are three ranked opponents and four programs that are currently receiving votes in the CRAC/Pocock poll. Kansas will be the only other Big 12 school represented.
It is the third running of the regatta which is co-hosted annually by North Carolina and Duke, but it will be the first time OU has taken part in the event.
Races will be split up into three sessions across the two-day competition. The first OU boat will hit the water at 11:24 a.m. CT on Friday.

Last Time Out
Sooner rowers last took to the water at the Ohio State Invite on April 9. The day was highlighted by a race win for the second varsity four, who registered a time of 08:03.600 to finish ahead of boats from No. 20 Indiana and Michigan State.The first varsity eight also put together a solid day, taking second place in both of their races. The group posted season best times in both races and only finished behind ranked opponents.
Scouting the Competition
Sixteen teams make up the field for this regatta: Boston College, Boston University, Bucknell, Central Florida, Clemson, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Penn, Syracuse, Temple and Navy.Three of the sixteen are inside the CRAC/PoCock top-20, No. 10 Duke, No. 11 Penn and No. 14 Syracuse. Four more are receiving votes in UCF, Clemson, Louisville and Navy.
