OU Splits Squad for the Weekend

NORMAN - The Oklahoma rowing team continues its fall slate at the Head of the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and a scrimmage in Oklahoma City against Tulsa.

"We're really looking forward to the opportunity for our team to race five teams, both home and away, in head racing and scrimmage style pieces," said head coach Sarah Trowbridge. "We want to say thank you to Alabama for inviting us out and to Tulsa for making the trip. We hope to get some really hard and fast racing a month after our fall opener."

The Head of the Black Warrior River will feature teams from Alabama, Clemson, Miami, and Louisville, which will mark OU's first appearance at the prestigious head race.

OU is slated to race eight lineups, with entries in the women's collegiate pair, four and eight at the Head of the Black Warrior River, while also hosting a home scrimmage against Tulsa. Events will include the third varsity eights and novice eights.

First action for the Sooners in Alabama will be the women's collegiate fours, starting at 8:10 a.m. CT on Saturday.

The Sooners opened their season at the Head of the Oklahoma, where they kicked off the day with all five singles boats finishing in the top 10 and a first-place finish from senior Andjela Nisevic. In fours, two boats placed in the top 15 and the eight races saw three boats in the top 15, highlighted by a second-place finish from the first varsity eight.
