NORMAN – (RV/RV) Oklahoma (11-3, 1-1 Big 12) hosts (11/11) Iowa State (13-1, 1-1 Big 12) in its second home Big 12 game of the season Saturday, Jan. 8 at Lloyd Noble Center.
Oklahoma opened Big 12 play with a 71-69 victory at Lloyd Noble Center against Kansas State.
The Sooners played in only their second true road game of the season Tuesday, Jan. 4 in Waco against No. 1 Baylor, and fell to the defending national champions 84-74. OU narrowed the Baylor lead to five with under a minute to go, but were unable to stop BU's potent offense.
The Sooners were led by Tanner Groves 13 points against the Bears. Groves was joined in double figures by Jalen Hill (12), Umoja Gibson (12) and Ethan Chargois (10). Chargois is the only reserve to have scored in double figures multiple (twice) times this season.

SCOUTING THE CYCLONES
- No. 11/11 Iowa State (13-1, 1-1 Big 12) opened Big 12 play with a loss to No. 1 Baylor before earning the 51-47 victory over No. 25 Texas Tech. The Cyclones are coached by T.J. Otzelberger in his first season as head coach at ISU.
- Iowa State started the year on a 12-game winning streak and climbed in the AP Poll. The Cyclones are led by a duo of double-digit scorers. Izaiah Brockington averages a team-high 16.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Gabe Kalscheur adds 10.2 points per contest, while Tyrese Hunter is the team leader in assists per game (4.9).
- ISU averages 71.4 points per game, while holding their competition to 56.9 points per contest. The Cyclones also hold a 4.5 rebound margin over its foes, while committing 4.0 less turnovers. Iowa State ranks in the top 25 nationally in seven categories, including the second-best three-point field goal defense in the country (24.8).
IOWA STATE VS. OKLAHOMA TIDBITS
- Oklahoma and Iowa State will meet for the 212 time when the two programs clash Saturday. OU holds a 67-24 advantage in games played in Norman and has a four-game winning streak over the Cyclones.
- Oklahoma director of video operations and player development Clay Custer started his college career at Iowa State before transferring to Loyola Chicago to finish his career under Porter Moser.
- In the March 2, 2013 meeting, Oklahoma finished with a NCAA record for free-throw percentage (min. 32 attempts, 34-for-34) against Iowa State. Romero Osby led the way and made 10 free throws, while Andrew Fitzgerald added eight.
MOSER VERSUS AP TOP 15 TEAMS
- Porter Moser earned his second victory over an opponent ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll when the Sooners beat then-No. 12 Arkansas 88-66 Saturday, Dec. 11 in Tulsa. OU had previously beaten then-No. 14 Florida 74-67 this season, before falling to No. 1 Baylor 84-74 Jan. 4.
- Moser is the first Oklahoma coach to have two AP top-15 victories in his first ten games and is only the second coach to have at least two such victories in their first season. Kelvin Sampson (1994-95) earned three victories against teams ranked in the top 15 and tallied five top 25 wins. The 1994-95 squad finished 23-9 overall and made the NCAA Tournament.
