NORMAN – (RV/RV) Oklahoma (11-2, 1-0 Big 12) plays in only its second true road game of the season when it visits Waco, Texas to face No. 1/1 Baylor (13-0, 1-0 Big 12) Tuesday, Jan. 4.
The two programs only played once last season due to a postponement that was unable to be reschedule.
Oklahoma earned its first win of 2022 and first in the Big 12 Saturday, Jan. 1, beating Kansas State 71-69 at Lloyd Noble Center. Elijah Harkless led five scorers who finished in double figures with 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting and 4-for-4 from three.
Umoja Gibson poured in 19 points, Jordan Goldwire 11, Jalen Hill 10 and CJ Noland 10. Noland was the first Sooner reserve to score in double figures since Ethan Chargois tallied 12 points at UCF.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- No. 1/1 Baylor (13-0, 1-0 Big 12) remains unbeaten to start the 2021-22 slate and last faced No. 8/8 Iowa State, beating the Cyclones 77-72 at Hilton Coliseum Jan. 1. The Bears are coached by Scott Drew in his 19th season.
- The defending national champions are on a 19-game winning streak, which starts against Hartford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. BU's last loss came against then-No. 12 Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Tournament March 12.
- Baylor averages 83.2 points per game and has held its opponents to 58.0 points per contest. The Bears are shooting 48.9% from the field and 36.1% from 3-point range. BU averages 19.2 assists per game and holds a nearly double-digit rebounding margin (9.7) over its competition.
- Four Bears average double-figure points and are led by LJ Cryer's 13.5 points per game. Jonathan Tchatchoua Tchamwa boasts 8.0 rebounds per contest, while James Akinjo is the team leader in assists per game (6.1).
SERIES HISTORY | BAYLOR
- Oklahoma and Baylor are slated to meet for the 67th time when the two programs clash Tuesday. The Bears hold a six-game winning streak against the Sooners.
- In the Sooners' last victory over the Bears (1/30/18), Trae Young finished with 44 points on 11-for-20 shooting from the field and 6-for-11 from three. Young added nine assists and was 16-for-19 from the free throw line.
- In the Feb. 11, 2006 meeting between the two schools, OU's Terrell Everett tallied 15 assists, which is tied for the sixth most in a single game in program history.
HERE COMES HARKLESS
- Elijah Harkless, who was Oklahoma's x-factor last season in three straight wins over top-10 teams, has continued to produce timely baskets and help take over games when needed in his second season with the Sooners. In his last five games, Harkless is averaging a team-high 14.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
- Against UCF, Harkless hit a key jumper late to give Oklahoma the lead and eventually the 65-62 victory over the Knights.
- The San Bernindano, Calif., product knocked down a 3-pointer against Butler to force overtime and finished with a then-season best 16 points against the Bulldogs. In overtime, Harkless scored the first five points and gave Oklahoma the 59-56 edge before eventually falling to BU 66-62.
- In the Sooners neutral site clash against then-No. 12 Arkansas, Harkless propelled OU with his first double-double (21 points, 11 rebounds) in the Crimson and Cream. His 21 points and 11 boards are both a season best.
- Despite being shorthanded against Kansas State, Harkless led OU to a 71-69 victory in the Big 12 opener. He led OU with 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting and 4-for-4 from three. With 35 seconds remaining, Harkless hit a go-ahead jumper, which helped secure the OU victory.
