OU Caps Weekend at Pair of Tournaments

NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's tennis team capped a successful weekend at a pair of tournaments in Texas and California.

Nathan Han, Welsh Hotard and Justin Schlageter saw success in Frisco, Texas at the Lakes Invite, winning eight of nine singles matches. Both Han and Hotard went undefeated on the weekend in singles matches with Han recording his second-straight weekend of undefeated singles competition.

"This group of Welsh, Justin and Nathan has played a lot of tennis the past two weekends, combining a singles record of 15-3 in Destin and Dallas," head coach Nick Crowell said. "It is a great way to start the fall."

The trio of Sooners competing in Texas swept the competition on Saturday, winning both doubles matches and all three singles matches. Han, Hotard and Schlageter combine for a 15-3 singles record on the past two weeks.

"They've worked extremely hard to prepare their bodies and minds, and they continue to improve each match," Crowell said. "We cannot wait to get back to work and get ready for the All-American Championships in Tulsa in two weeks."

In San Francisco, Calif., Baptiste Anselmo and Mason Beiler took the court for OU. Both players earned wins to advance to the round of 16 competition at the Battle in the Bay.

"The guys in California both played some great tennis and picked up some big wins," Crowell said. "There are lots of positives to bring back home and build on for the next tournament."
