Men's Tennis Adds Anselmo to Roster
July 05, 2021 | Men's Tennis
NORMAN — Oklahoma head tennis coach Nick Crowell announced the addition of former top-100 junior player in the world in Baptiste Anselmo from the University of Georgia over the weekend.
"I am extremely excited to add another elite-level player with the character and work ethic that has OUDNA and elevate Oklahoma tennis," Crowell said. "We can't wait to get to work this fall with Baptiste."
Anselmo saw limited action in his two seasons as a Bulldog. As a freshman in 2019-20, he was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll and was ranked eighth in the ITA Freshman/Newcomer rankings. He closed his sophomore campaign at Georgia with eight wins in 2021.
Anselmo holds a career-high ITF junior ranking of 67 and ATP ranking of 1448.
Prior to his collegiate career, Anselmo was a member of the U16 French national team and helped guide the French to a second-place finish in the European Championship Winter Cup. Additionally, he was a U14 French champion in doubles and vice champion in singles.
Anselmo is Crowell's second addition to the 2021 signing class, joining Jordan Hasson, who signed with OU in December 2020. Hasson is a four-time Israeli national champion with career-high ATP rankings of 912 in singles and 1125 in doubles. Additionally, he held a high UTR rating of 13.68 and is a two-time ATP Futures singles semifinalist.
The Sooners are set to return to the court this fall, and their schedule will be released at a later date.
