OU Adds Two Qualifiers on Day Three

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Oklahoma's men's track and field teams pushed two student-athletes through to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., before the remainder of the meet was postponed due to inclement weather. 

The Sooner's punched two tickets to the NCAAs in the men's high jump and triple jump, Friday, bringing OU's total to six. Inclement weather began as the running events were about to get started, leaving all track events to be competed at a different time. The remainder of Friday's schedule is expected to take place on Saturday. 

Redshirt junior Vernon Turner is making his return to Eugene after punching his ticket in the men's high jump. Turner cleared 7-2.25 (2.19m) en route to his spot at the championships. The Okla. native competed in the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., finishing sixth and earning first team All-America accolades. Sophomore Keith Drapeau cleared 6-9 (2.06m) in his West Regional debut. Drapeau finished 25th overall. 

The Sooners' second qualifier of the day came in redshirt junior Jelaani Davis. Davis earned his spot in Eugene in the men's triple jump, recording a personal-best mark of 52-6.75 (16.02m). The redshirt junior's mark places him No. 6 on OU's all-time top-10 list. Davis is set to make his championships debut. Senior Garry Williams jumped 51-4.25 (15.65m) to finish in 21st

Results for the women's hammer throw were finalized on Friday. Senior Lauren Jones finished in the top 15 with a mark of 200-3 (61.05m).

A finalized schedule of Saturday's action is to be determined. Prior to Friday, the women were expected to start at 1 p.m. CT with the high jump on Saturday. Live results can be found via Flash Results
