Rowing Set for Big 12 Championship

NORMAN - The University of Oklahoma rowing team begins postseason competition Saturday at the Big 12 Rowing Championship in Austin, Texas. The regatta will be held on Walter E. Long Lake. Originally scheduled for Sunday, inclement weather forecasted for the Austin area caused the race to be moved up a day.
OU will be joined at the conference championship by No. 2 Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, West Virginia and conference affiliates No. 12 Alabama and No. 13 Tennessee.
All seven teams will race in the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, first varsity four and second varsity four competition. The racing format for the four events will be a finals-only event with all racing set to take place on Sunday. The championship will begin with the first varsity eight at 8:15 a.m. and conclude with the second varsity four at 9:00 a.m.
The team with the highest combined score among the three automatic qualifier races – 1V8, 2V8 and 1V4 – will receive the Conference's AQ to the NCAA Championship. Scoring for the Big 12 title will include all four races.
OU is looking for its third Big 12 Championship and first since 2014.
