AUSTIN, Texas — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams closed day two of the Texas Relays, sending nine student-athletes into Saturday's finals across three events.
On the track, the women's 4x100-meter relay squad took first in the prelims, advancing to tomorrow's final. The Sooners were represented by junior Kennedy Blackmon, senior Ja'Leesa Giles, freshman Lilan Henderson and junior Deborah Giffard in the event. The team clocked a 44.99, finishing first in prelims competition. Final competition will take place at 2:06 p.m. CT tomorrow.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team earned their spot in the final of the event after taking third in the prelims. Freshman Salim Epps, seniors Demarius Smith and Devaniel Dale, as well as redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston clocked a 3:06.84 in the race. Final action is slated for 4:40 p.m on Saturday.
Redshirt senior Jackson Webb and Smith secured spots in the men's 100-meter dash final after record performances. Webb finished second overall after clocking a personal best 10.03. Webb's time places him second on OU's all-time top-10 list. Smith's personal best 10.07 placed him fourth overall and in a tie for third on OU's all-time top-10 list. The duo will compete in the final at 2:41 p.m.
Senior Rayvon Allen finished second in the men's long jump, behind a personal record 26-4.25 (8.04m) wind-aided jump that is good for sixth all-time at OU.
Sophomore Bryant Parlin competed in men's shot put 'B', finishing in second place. The sophomore threw a personal best 55-0.25 (16.77m).
In women's high jump 'B', senior Falyn Reaugh and junior Madison Langley-Walker went back-to-back, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Both Sooners cleared 5-9.25 (1.76m). The mark was a personal best for Langley-Walker.
Redshirt senior Sydney King finished fourth in women's pole vault 'B', clearing 12-11.75 (3.96m). Senior Colleen Clancy recorded a height of 12-6 (3.81m), finishing in a tie for seventh place.
Senior Lauren Jones finished fifth overall and fourth among collegiate competition in women's discus throw 'A'. Jones threw for 177-1 (53.89m).
In the women's long jump, sophomore Mikeisha Welcome and junior Symone Washington competed in the 'B' section. Welcome jumped 19-9.5 (6.06m) in her outdoor collegiate debut. The sophomore claimed fifth place. Washington jumped 19-8.75 (6.01m) for an eighth-place finish. Senior Essence Thomas competed in the 'A' section, jumping 20-3.75 (6.19m). Thomas finished in the top-10.
On the track, senior Camri Austin and Langley-Walker represented the Sooners in the prelims of the women's 100-meter hurdles. Austin clocked a 13.27 for 12th place, while Langley-Walker ran a personal best 13.77.
Senior Jasher Foster competed in the men's 110-meter hurdles, notching a personal best 14.19.
