NORMAN — The Oklahoma soccer team will seek its first win over a top-five opponent on Saturday night when it travels to Ft. Worth, Texas, for a showdown with No. 4 TCU at 7 p.m.
The Sooners met the Horned Frogs in Norman in the fall season, dropping a 1-0 decision to then-No. 4 TCU. Oklahoma is led by first-year head coach Mark Carr, who has begun his transformation of the program and is coming off a 2-2 draw with Iowa State.
In that draw with the Cyclones the Sooners were led by freshman striker CeCe Cross who scored the first two goals of her collegiate career to power the Sooners to a point.
The Sooners will look to continue their offensive momentum generated in last week's match with Iowa State. Freshman CeCe Cross scored twice and the Sooners outshot the Cyclones, something they'll need to do versus the Horned Frogs on Saturday night.
The game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and fans can watch with a subscription.
Oklahoma and TCU met in Norman last fall, with the Horned Frogs taking home a 1-0 result, one of seven 1-0 results that the Sooners have dropped this season. In the fall, Oklahoma put eight shots up against TCU, including five on goal.
On TCU:
"We're looking forward to playing against TCU. We know we're going up against a good team that's full of talented players and Big 12 champions."
On the Sooners:
"We're much improved from where we were last fall, and we know we need to be at our best in all moments of the game. We're excited about the game and look forward to attacking the opportunity head on."
Oklahoma will prepare for Bedlam in Stillwater, as the Sooners head north on March 27 for a showdown with the Cowgirls.
