FORT WORTH, Texas – The Oklahoma soccer team dropped its match at No. 4 TCU, 2-0, on Saturday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth.
The Sooners (0-10-2) held the nation's sixth-best offense scoreless for the first 30 minutes, allowing just five shots in that half hour with none testing OU goalkeeper
Leah Radow. But TCU would strike quickly and in succession, scoring a pair of goals in the 32nd and 33rd minutes that would prove to be the difference in the match.
"TCU is obviously a good team and they punished us with two goals very quickly," head coach
Mark Carr said. "We can't afford to leave a player like Yazmeen Ryan open. We didn't react to the first goal and that's what we have to learn to do and not let that determine our circumstances."
For the remainder of the match, the Sooners played the 2020 Big 12 champions even, but the two first-half goals would be all the Horned Frogs needed to secure the victory.
"We changed our shape in the second half and our team adjusted very well on the fly," Carr added. "We were much better, played with more of an edge. We played together, defended well and created some decent chances. We'll take the positives from this game and now get back to training next week."
OU took four shots, but couldn't put one on net despite a couple of good chances near the box. Big 12 All-Conference freshman team member
Cailey England played 90 minutes and had a shot for the Sooners.
The Sooners now turn their focus to a Bedlam rematch with No. 14 Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Saturday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
