SAN ANTONIO — The top-ranked Oklahoma men's golf team heads to San Antonio this week to compete in the Cabo Collegiate at the par-72, 7,034-yard TPC San Antonio Oaks Course, home of the PGA's Valero Texas Open. The 54-hole event will play Monday-Wednesday and features a field highlighted by the country's top three teams in the latest Golfweek rankings: Oklahoma, Arizona and Florida State.

"We're looking forward to teeing off Monday at a really great event with a great field," head coach Ryan Hybl said. "TPC San Antonio will present challenges that will help us get better, and the opportunity for our guys to play on a PGA-level course is always good."

The full field of 16 features nine top-25 teams and 12 inside the top 50. On the individual front, 16 of the nation's top-50 players will tee off this week, with the winner receiving an exemption into the Valero Texas Open, it was announced on Thursday.

Perhaps more impressively, the Cabo field will showcase seven of the top-10 players in the latest PGA Tour U rankings, including a pair of Sooners in No. 7 Quade Cummins and No. 8 Garett Reband. The top five finishers from the final official PGA TOUR U rankings will receive Korn Ferry Tour membership and will be exempt into all open, full-field events beginning the week following the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Men's National Championship through the conclusion of the Korn Ferry Tour regular season. The top five finishers will also be exempt into the Final Stage of that year's Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament.

OU LINEUP

The Sooners' lineup has accumulated a combined 49 top-10 finishes and boasts four top-50 players and an equal number of All-Americans.

Patrick Welch, the fifth-ranked golfer in the nation, will lead Hybl's team in San Antonio this week. The junior has erupted onto the scene in 2020-21, finishing inside the top-25 at every event this season, highlighted by a win at the East Lake Cup and a T4 finish at the Seminole Intercollegiate to open the spring. As a freshman, he was an honorable mention All-American, and he owns the Oklahoma school record for scoring average vs. par.

All-American and Haskins Watch List honoree Garett Reband will be on the second bag for the Sooners at the Cabo. In his first 54-hole event of the season, the York, S.C., product fired a 68 in the Seminole Intercollegiate's final round to finish T11, the 20th top-20 finish of his career. The redshirt senior currently sits in eighth in the PGA Tour U rankings, one spot behind fellow Sooner Quade Cummins

Quade Cummins appears in the Oklahoma lineup for the 39th time of his OU career and will look for his 25th top-20 finish at TPC San Antonio. The All-American is ranked seventh in the PGA Tour U rankings, and a strong performance this week could catapult him into the top five.

Logan McAllister, ranked 32nd nationally, grabs the four bag for the Sooners for the second consecutive week. In just 11 collegiate events, the Oklahoma City product has produced a pair of wins and six top 20s.

All-American transfer Jonathan Brightwell returns to the Oklahoma lineup for the first time this spring after competing at the spring-opening Seminole Intercollegiate as an individual. Brightwell sits in 45th in the Golfweek individual rankings and has amassed 19 top-20 career finishes.
