Track and Field Announces Indoor Slate

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma track and field and head coach Tim Langford announced the 2021-2022 indoor track schedule Wednesday.

With just one home meet and an early start to the season, the Sooners will compete across the country in 2022.

"I'm pleased with the schedule we have put together for the upcoming season," said Langford. "It provides the opportunity to compete at some of the best venues in the nation."

The Sooners will start the indoor season Dec. 11 at the annual K-State Winter Invitational. After a month-long break, OU will kick off 2022 at the Arkansas Invitational on Jan. 14 in Fayettville, Ark.

The following week, the Sooners will host their only indoor meet of the season, the J.D. Martin Invitational, on Jan. 22.

The team will spend four weeks on the road from Jan. 28 through the end of the indoor season, traveling to Lubbock Jan. 28-29 (Texas Tech Open & Multis), Lincoln, Neb. Feb. 4-5 (Husker Invitational), back to Lubbock Feb. 11-12 (Texas Tech Shootout) before finishing the indoor slate in Fayettville, Ark. on Feb. 19 at the Arkansas Qualifier.

"Our students will have a variety of competition venues that are as different in construction as the cities they are located," said Langford.

The 2022 Big 12 Indoor Championships will be held in Ames, Iowa, Feb. 25-26, hosted by Iowa State. At last year's Big 12 indoor meet, OU then-junior Kristo Simulask brought home the heptathlon title and the Sooners secured 12 top-three finishes.

Following indoor Big 12s, those that qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on March 11-12.

The 2022 OU outdoor track and field schedule will be released at a later date.
