AUSTIN, Texas – The Oklahoma volleyball team fell, 3-0, to No. 2 Texas Friday night inside Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns took the match in straight-sets, 25-8, 25-21, 25-14. Texas hit .380 in the match while holding the Sooners to just .106.
Megan Wilson led the Sooners with 12 kills on the night, followed by nine from
Savannah Davison.
Paige Anderson hit .300 on the night with four kills.
Peyton Dunn tallied 23 assists to pace the offense.
Olivia LittleJim led the way with 10 digs while Davison chipped in eight and
Callie Kemohah notched six.
Texas used an 11-0 run in the first set to take a 15-3 lead and force a timeout by the Sooners. Out of the break, Wilson ended the run with her second kill of the match. The Longhorns would go on to win the set 25-8.
The Sooners kept it close to start set two, trailing 6-4 early. OU continued to stay in the match as it trailed by five at the first timeout, 15-10. A kill from Davison made it a four-point set at 19-15. OU pulled within three at 22-19 on another Davison kill. Texas used a 3-2 run to take the set, 25-21.
A kill from Wilson in the third set pulled the Sooners within two, 8-6. At the media timeout, the Sooners trailed 15-10 but a kill from Wilson made it a four-point set. Texas closed out the set on a 10-4 run to take the set 25-14.
The Sooners will have a bye week before returning home for the final matches of the regular season. OU will host Baylor inside McCasland Field House Tuesday, Nov. 23, and Wednesday Nov. 24. The senior class will be honored following Wednesday's match.
