NORMAN – The Oklahoma rowing team begins their 2021-22 schedule Saturday, Oct. 2 in Oklahoma City at the Head of the Oklahoma. The two-day event takes place on the Oklahoma River and concludes Sunday, Oct. 3.
"The team is excited to get out and race," said Oklahoma head rowing coach
Leeanne Crain. "With just a few weeks of training behind us, it's nice to open up our fall season at home. This will be a great chance for us to see how we stack up against our regional competition early in the season."
The Sooners boast a varsity roster of 52 and are highlighted by 2021 All-Big 12 honorees
Jessica Robinson and
Breah McKay.
The 16
th edition of the regatta will begin 8 a.m. on Saturday with the night sprints being held at 7 p.m.
OU is slated to have two boats in the women's collegiate eight, and four entries in the women's collegiate four at 2:55 p.m.
The two-day event will conclude on Sunday with the Sooners starting the day with eight in the women's collegiate single at 8:25 a.m., and a pair of boats in the women's open double at 8:40 a.m.
Fans can park in the Boathouse District for $10 and fireworks will be displayed following the night races on Saturday.
