Cummins and Reband Named to Haskins Watch List

NORMAN – A pair of Oklahoma men's golf seniors, Quade Cummins and Garett Reband, were named to the preseason watch list for the Fred Haskins Award on Thursday.
Created by the Haskins Commission, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is presented to the "Most Outstanding Collegiate Golfer of the Year." Known as the "Heisman of Golf", the Haskins Award has been named in honor of Fred Haskins, who dedicated his career as head professional at the Country Club of Columbus in teaching junior golfers the art of competitive golf.
Reband is currently ranked No. 3 nationally by Golfstat and was named to the Haskins final watch list last spring. He earned a spot on the 2020 U.S. Palmer Cup team alongside Cummins, in addition to being named a PING First Team All-American. The senior also landed on the 2019-20 Ben Hogan Award watch list.
Cummins returns to the Sooners for one final campaign in Norman after a decorated four years in the Crimson and Cream. The First Team All-American is ranked No. 5 nationally and appeared on the Haskins Award watch list last spring. The Weatherford, Okla., product has 14 top-10 finishes for Oklahoma in his Oklahoma career.
The duo has helped cement the Sooners at the top of collegiate golf. During their collegiate careers in Norman, the Sooners have taken home 10 tournament titles and appeared in NCAA match play every season. The Sooners are one of six schools with multiple players on the preseason watch list.
The Haskins Award winner and two finalists will be announced on Golf Channel in May 2021.
