NORMAN — University of Oklahoma golfer
Blake Lorenz was among the 376 student athletes named Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Sunday.
In 2019-20, the sophomore competed in the Carmel Cup for the Sooners. Lorenz posted a 69 in his opening round and finished one over par for the tournament. The Peoria, Ariz., native's top-33 finish aided the Sooners to a second place finish in their opening tournament of the season.
"Blake has done a great job in the classroom since he has been with us," head coach
Ryan Hybl said. "He has earned everything to become an Academic All-America."
In Hybl's eleven years at OU, his golfers have now earned 14 academic All-America accolades.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
