Sooners Add Transfer Jonathan Brightwell to Roster

University of Oklahoma men's golf head coach Ryan Hybl announced the addition of graduate transfer Jonathan Brightwell to the Sooners' 2020-2021 roster on Thursday.

Brightwell comes to OU from UNC Greensboro. He finished the 2019-20 season ranked No. 13 in the nation according to Golfstat.com. The transfer picked up two individual victories this past year and set the UNCG scoring average record at 70.05.

"We are really excited to be adding such an accomplished player like Jonathan Brightwell," Hybl said. "I have been very impressed how he continually talks about wanting to get better and I can feel his passion to win championships."

The Charlotte, N.C. native was named to the 2020 Haskins Award Watch list and a second team All American. Brightwell was SoCon Player of the Month twice and is a three-time Player of the Week. He is also a three-time All-SoCon selection.

"I really like the coaches and feel like I will fit right in with what they are doing as a program," said Brightwell. "Also the schedule, facilities, and the current players on the team helped me make the decision. Really looking forward to getting out there and competing with the guys and making a run next spring at NCAAs."

Brightwell will join the OU lineup in the fall with one full year of eligibility.
