Three Sooners Selected to First-Team Academic All-Big 12

NORMAN — Three members of the Oklahoma men's golf team were among 45 student-athletes selected to the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the league office announced Monday.

Senior Thomas Johnson (Communication), Sophomore Blake Lorenz (Business) and Redshirt-Sophomore Lane Wallace (Management) were all selected to the first team which requires at least a 3.20 GPA.

The first-team award is the first for all three Sooners. Johnson earned second-team honors in the 2018-19 season.

From the league's 10 universities, 35 student-athletes were named to the first team, while 10 earned second-team selections.

To qualify for the Academic All-Big 12 Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulatively or over each of the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
