Quade Cummins and
Garett Reband have been selected as Division I PING First-Team All-Americans, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Thursday.
OU's two first team selections marks the first time under head coach
Ryan Hybl.
Cummins and Reband both earned honorable mention accolades in the 2018-19 season.
The Sooners now have 65 All-Americans in program history. The duo joins Abraham Ancer (2011, honorable mention), Will Kropp (2012, honorable mention,), Michael Gellerman (2015, third team), Max McGreevy (2016, third team; 2017, honorable mention), Grant Hirschman (2016, 2017, 2018; honorable mention),
Brad Dalke (2017, honorable mention; 2018 second team) and
Blaine Hale (2017 and 2018, honorable mention) as the 12 student-athletes to earn All-America status under 10th-year head coach Hybl.
The duo played a key role throughout OU's run to the NCAA Championship match play quarterfinals in 2019, while helping the Sooners to two team wins and five top-3 finishes before the early conclusion of the 2019-20 season.
Cummins finished the season with season with a 69.50 stroke average and finished in the top-20 of every event. The Sooner finished in second at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic with a 20-under par, 193, setting a school record. The Weatherford native was also named to the 2020 Ben Hogan Watch list. This marked the third straight season Cummins was named an All-American by the GCAA.
Reband, also announced to the Ben Hogan watch list, finished the season with a 69.39 scoring average. The senior had his best career finish at the Puerto Rico Classic tying for first place. Reband was also a finalist for the 2020 Haskins Award.
