NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams return to action in Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15.
The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. CT on Friday with field events before track events get going at 3 p.m. Day two of the meet will begin with women's pole vault at 11:30 a.m. CT on Saturday. Friday's portion of the meet will be available on SEC Network+.
OU is scheduled to compete 55 athletes and are one among 26 schools entered to compete. The Sooners will face Albany, Arkansas, Arkansas Baptist, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Baylor, Coffeyville CC, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina A&T, Northern Colorado, Northwestern State, Paradise Valley, Rutgers, Stephen F. Austin and Wichita State.
At last weekend's home meet, the Sooners had their best performance of the indoor season, notching 18 victories, setting several personal bests and breaking a meet record. Junior Essence Thomas claimed the women's triple jump crown with a mark of 13.29m. Thomas' mark was good for a personal best and the J.D. Martin Invitational record in the event. The Texas native earned Big 12 Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following her stellar performance.
